In the last quarter of the century, New York’s 12k has become one of the most important labels in experimental electronics. On Saturday, March 21st, founder Taylor Deupree will perform at the 12k CAMP showcase. From the 1998 techno-ambient album, to the Fridman Variations last year, Deupree’s discography sets the standard of high quality. He has worked with a number of famous musicians, including several recordings with Ryuichi Sakamoto, Frank Bretschneider and Stephan Mathieu. Deupree is also a photographer and designer.
Along with Deupree, Portuguese musician and multimedia artist Marcus Fischer will also come to Prague. He works with field recordings, self-made instruments and elements of coincidence, although classical acoustic instruments are sometimes enough – creating delicate minimalist ambient flats which make the listener feel as if floating on water. Fischer’s distinctive projects include the thing-a-day blog, where he kept notes of the fulfillment of his resolution to create one artifact every day of 2009.
